Course Description

Understanding how coercive control works in relationships is key to understanding the power dynamic that underlies the majority of intimate partner violence cases. This course reveals hallmark indicators of coercive control and explores the ways that perpetrators layer their controlling behaviour to entrap victims.

This resource reviews:

  • The social context within which IPV exists
  • The definition of IPV and related concepts 
  • What research has revealed about victims’ experience of coercive control
