Introduction

This course provides a foundational knowledge of the current state of over-representation of Indigenous people in Canada. Statistical trends relating to both federal and provincial custody are explored, with a special emphasis on the over-incarceration of Indigenous women and youth. This course also highlights the various government and institutional responses to the crisis.
