Introduction

Legislative reconciliation is the enactment of legislation that affirms and promotes the inherent rights of Indigenous peoples.

This course explores legislative reconciliation through the lens of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). Judges will learn about the scope of UNDRIP, how it has been incorporated into Canadian law through legislation and jurisprudence, and what impact it is likely to have on future decisions.
